The UvA’s Kaltura environment (hereinafter referred to as ‘Kaltura’) is a streaming media platform that offers UvA students, UvA staff and persons working for the UvA (hereinafter referred to as ‘UvA users’) the possibility to use video and audio files for the purpose of teaching and research at the UvA.

Overview of Kaltura conditions of use

By using Kaltura, you agree to the following conditions of use:

  • Only UvA users are entitled to use Kaltura.
  • UvA users may only use Kaltura in the context of teaching and research at the UvA.
  • The ICT code of conduct for staff and the ICT code of conduct for students apply to material placed on Kaltura.
  • UvA users are responsible and liable for managing the files they place on Kaltura.
  • If and insofar as users are not the creator of a file, they may only place that file on Kaltura with the creator’s permission.
  • UvA users may only place material related to teaching and research at the UvA. The material placed on Kaltura may have no commercial purpose.
  • The files on Kaltura are for teaching and research only.
  • UvA users may not use or distribute the material on Kaltura, or hyperlinks to the material, without permission from the owner of the material.
  • In principle, confidential video or audio material may not be placed on Kaltura unless it is part of the agreements concluded with the Faculties of Social and Behavioural Sciences and Humanities and that are described in the secure workflow process that is part of the completed DPIA.
