UvA's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UvA) is the central hotline for ICT security incidents.

When does a security incident occur?

Examples of a security incident include a hacked computer or email box, losing confidential information on your laptop, phone or USB stick, a phishing email or a virus outbreak (ransomware).

Incident reporting

A security incident can be reported during office hours to the Service Desk ICT Services at servicedesk-icts@uva.nl or by phone on 020-525 1402. Outside office hours or for serious security incidents, this can be done directly to CERT-UvA at cert@uva.nl or by telephone on 020-525 3322.

What does CERT-UvA do?

The ICT specialists at CERT-UvA:

  • prevent and identify security incidents involving the university, either as a target or as a source
  • handle security incidents so that disruption to systems and loss of data are minimised
  • provide advice and education about current threats
  • report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) about security incidents that have occurred

CERT-UvA treats reports confidentially and only provides information about security incidents if it is necessary and relevant to the resolution of an incident. CERT-UvA uses PGP for secure communications.
