Educational Events & Conferences team

‘We'll take care of it ourselves’ – that’s something that the Educational Events & Conferences team often hears from colleagues. However, it is easy to underestimate just how much work goes into organizing an event, and the kind of expertise that is required.

Educational Events and Conferences has been organising and advising on academic conferences and events for over 15 years, at the University and elsewhere.

You can outsource the entire organisation of your event to us, or just a part of it. Our staff can help you come up with a package of services to meet your specific needs and requirements.

These are the matters Educational Events & Conferences can take out of your hands:

  • Participant registration
  • Abstract handling
  • All the practical matters involved in organizing a conference
  • Financial administration
  • The social programme
  • Arranging hotel accommodation for speakers and participants

What is our core business?

What we do is organise, and provide advice on, aimed at a variety of internal and external audiences from academia and civil society. Large or small, formal or informal - the division can help organise the right event for you. It can take care of the whole event or parts of the programme, depending on your needs.

Who are our clients?

We mainly work for internal clients (connected to the UvA) and we always operate on a project-by-project basis. We charge a special hourly rate for internal clients, which is lower than the going rate for a commercial events organiser. We also work for external clients, such as research organisations, institutions of higher education and other stakeholders in and around Amsterdam.

Why us?

Educational Events & Conferences does all the work for you, so you can focus fully on your guests and programme. As a division within the Communications Office (BC), which is responsible for the UvA’s communications policy, we are familiar with the UvA’s culture and style and can ensure that your event is run in a way that reflects the UvA's quality standards. We also have close links with other parties within the UvA that are relevant to event organisation, such as Facility Services (FS), the Audio-Visual Centre, and of course the Communications Office with its press officers, communications advisers and web editors.
