Microsoft has discovered a vulnerability in the mail environment and has made a patch available for it. This patch will be implemented immediately by the UvA and the AUAS to prevent abuse.

Unfortunately, the patch process has consequences for employees of the joint services (ICTS, AC, FS and the library) of the AUAS and the UvA and employees of the UvA's Faculty of Humanities (FGw). If you are an employee at one of these units, you will be able to access your email and calendars only via a VPN connection until and including Wednesday, 10 March.

I'm an employee: how can I access my email?

The instructions for downloading and installing the VPN connection can be found on the staff site. After installation you can access your email and calendar via Outlook as well as webmail.uva.nl or webmail.hva.nl.

This situation was unforeseen and regrettable. There is no connection to the recent cyber attack. This is a worldwide vulnerability in Microsoft's Exchange Servers.
