Social safety affects the entire UvA community. Everyone who works or studies at the UvA can contribute to creating a safe working and learning environment, and supervisors have a special task in this regard. In this overview you can find several best practices and courses you can follow or organise for your team.
A broader training programme for supervisors. You will learn more about using your own strengths effectively (personal leadership), coaching for talent development and about themes such as social safety, diversity and work pressure. You will also gain knowledge on how to effectively influence the stakeholder field.
A broader training programme for supervisors and managers who are (jointly) responsible for giving direction to their department, unit or institute. Topics include personal leadership, managing your system and UvA-wide leadership. The programme also covers social safety.
Bullying, (sexual) harassment, insults and other forms of inappropriate behaviour can do enormous damage to people and cause stress, anxiety and mental problems. That's why it is essential for everyone to know how to say something when undesirable situations arise. Find information on active bystander training on https://www.activebystander.co.uk/., or email su@activebystander.co.uk if you have questions or want to book a course.
This TNO-developed guide aims to help the person(s) being bullied, the bystander and the staff member (e.g., supervisor, HR or study advisor) acknowledge and recognize bullying behavior and give them tools to deal with bullying. This guide leads you to an appropriate approach to bullying in three steps.
