The logistics hub is located in Duivendrecht, on the outskirts of Amsterdam. This is close to the A10 highway and just outside the city’s low emission zone. Suppliers can deliver their goods here at any time of the day. From this hub, orders are bundled together and driven into the city using electric vehicles to the various UvA and AUAS locations.

Logistics partners SimplyMile and PostNL handle the distribution of orders from Duivendrecht. A major advantage of this system is that not every supplier has to drive separately through Amsterdam's busy city centre to make their delivery. In addition, it is possible to use the electric vehicles to make deliveries outside the city’s delivery time windows.

Starting in 2017, the UvA and AUAS began using the logistics hub for deliveries to their campuses, starting with a small number of regular suppliers. Since then, a number of suppliers have joined the hub. It is our ambition to expand this.

  • Also for other clients and institutions

    UvA and AUAS suppliers can also use the logistics hub for other customers in Amsterdam. The more bundled deliveries are made with ’ clean’  transport, the better it is for the surroundings and the environment.

    Other institutions in Amsterdam can also join the hub. If more institutions are supplied smartly and sustainably via the hub, then more deliveries can be brought into the city in a bundle using clean transport.

  • Benefits

    Using a logistics hub offers many advantages – for the sender, for the UvA and AUAS, and especially for the surrounding area!

    The supplier:

    • can deliver the goods on the outskirts of the city and no longer has to go into the Amsterdam’s city centre;
    • has the opportunity to place generic stock closer to the UvA and AUAS. This can significantly reduce delivery times
    • meets the increasing demand for sustainable transport
    • makes a positive contribution to improving air quality and traffic flow in the city.

    The recipient:

    • has fewer transport movements around the premises which benefits the livability/safety of the surrounding area;
    • receives supplies at a limited number of moments and can therefore deploy staff more effectively.

    The surrounding area:

    • has less noise nuisance;
    • has less trouble with polluting vehicles in the city;
    • has less trouble with congestion caused by vans and trucks. Has less trouble with (heavy) logistical movements in the city centre because the vulnerable infrastructure is less burdened.
